Photography for Knitters with Gale Zucker

Gale is an award-winning photographer who’s worked on assignment for Smithsonian, Yankee, Wine Spectator, TV Guide, CraftStylish, USA Weekend , Womans Day, and for The New York Times., as well as for non-profit foundations and businesses. A lifelong knitter & crafter, Gale lives in shoreline CT with her family. 

Course Description: We'll cover basic concepts of photography in a jargon free way, and work on making your digital photography images look great. Our focus will be techniques and tricks to photograph knits, fiber & texture. We'll work on choosing backgrounds, colors, composition ideas, simple ways to make the best use of light and how to use photography to really tell the story of your craft. I'll also do a demo of optimizing your images once they’re out of the camera and into a blog page or website. Students will receive handouts with notes from all materiel covered.
Prerequisites:A dslr isn’t necessary; point & shoot cameras are welcome.Students must know how to find the settings on their cameras for exposure and flash, and should review their camera manual.
Materials:• Camera and memory media card . • Fully charged batteries and spares (if possible). • Camera manual • A finished object, or work in progress to practice photographing.
